Lisbon Workers’ Commissions call for participation in activities – Observer
The Coordinating Commission of Workers’ Commissions of the Lisbon Region (CIL) called for “the massive participation of workers” in the legislative changes of January 30, with the objective of strengthening labor rights and employment, was released on Tuesday.
The appeal is made in an approval approved on Monday at a Regional Meeting of Workers’ Commissions, in Lisbon, which argues that, in the next advantages, workers must assume an “active and conscious participation that gives strength to the defense of workers’ rights and against precariousness and work“.
The same resolution reminds us that they live “troubled and difficult times, not only due to the context of a Covid-19 pandemic”, but mainly due to the policies of the socialist government, which did not solve the problem of low wages and the deregulation of working hours, between others.
“A Government that does not reverse these harms to workers and never prevents a wave of collective redundancies and company relocations, despite these having profits and being strategic for the national interest”, accuses the document released today by the CIL.
The Lisbon Region Workers’ Committees also condemned the PS Government for not having changed the labor legislation in order to correct the changes made by the PSD / CDS Government at the time of the troika’s intervention and for not having reinforced the rights of the Workers’ Committees .
CIL also took the opportunity to “publicly denounce the systematic violation of the rights of Workers’ Committees, by a majority of employers, namely the rights to information and management control, but also the right to have the means of communication guaranteed to their activity “.
