Teatro Baltazar Dias integrates international production with casting in Lisbon – DNOTICIAS.PT
The portuguese version of the new opera ‘Um Lobo à Porta’, by Vasco Mendonça, will be on stage at Teatro Luís de Camões, in 2023, to integrate the particularity of the Baltazar Dias Municipal Theater in this international production of ‘PROJETOS bird a bird’.
Thus, on the 13th and 14th of January, in Lisbon, more specifically at Teatro Luís de Camões, there will be an audition for soprano, mezzo soprano and countertenor for the project ‘Um Lobo à Porta / Um Lobo à Porta’.
This is a project aimed at an audience under the age of 35 and of different origins.
Applications (which must include CV, photo and video of a presentation) should be sent to the production of Naomi Russell until tomorrow, January 4th, to the following email address: [email protected]
The necessary auditions will take place in the morning and, in the afternoon, the selected singers will work and improvise with Inne Goris.
For a morning session, candidates must prepare a repertoire lyric aria (18th-21st century); and a contemporary piece (20th-21st century). If the candidate’s mother tongue is not Portuguese, he/she must also prepare a piece in Portuguese.
It is noteworthy that candidates must have completed training in conservatory and, ideally, have stage experience and be fluent in Portuguese. They must also be available to work on a freelance basis in Europe.
‘Um Lobo à Porta / Um Lobo à Porta’ is a tragicomic musical review of traditional children’s tales, told from the perspective of the wolf, addressing key issues in the development of a sense of community – which, instead of hatred and intolerance, base development up on civics, tolerance and shared experiences.
The original idea and music of this opera for children are by Vasco Mendonça, the libretto by Gonçalo M. Tavares and the staging by Inne Goris.
The opera has its premiere scheduled for the end of 2022 and the Portuguese tour, which will pass by Teatro Luís de Camões, takes place in November and December 2022 and January and June 2023.
In addition to the partnership with the Baltazar Dias Municipal Theater, this initiative also has the support of the Municipal Theater of Porto, the CineTeatro Louletano, the Dutch National Opera, LOD and the Luxembourg Philharmonic.
