The American company SAFE Boats International showed the construction of boats Mark VI (abbreviated Mk VI), which awaits Ukraine.

On December 30, the US Department of Defense announced the exercise of an option to a previously concluded contract and the signing of annexes to the September 2021 agreement on the construction of six Mk VI type patrol boats in Ukraine.

Option of two boats under contract, which continues to operate the American shipbuilding company SAFE Boats International.

Thus, the number of ordered boats for the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine increased to 10 units.

SAFE Boats International has already published photos of the progress of construction of Mk VI patrol boats, and the current line in addition to the order for Ukraine, if they are the same case for the Ukrainian Navy:

They show that the degree of readiness of the shown is quite high and the buildings are already being equipped with auxiliary equipment.

So far, the patrol boats do not have combat modules, which for the initial model have MSI Seahawk A2.

In the press release of SAFE Boats International notedthat the contract of the US Department of Defense in the interests of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine allowed to resume operation of the company’s production site in Tacoma, Washington.

At about 84 feet (25 meters) long, the Mark VI is a multifunctional platform and can reach a top speed of more than 35. According to the basic characteristics, the boats have a maximum crew of 10 people and can accommodate up to 8 passengers.

Each crew consists of two teams, each team has its own Commander, patrol office, boatswain, shooter, mechanic and navigator. MK VI uses two diesel engines, has a speed of 45 knots (52 mph; 83 km / h).
