Salzburg police convicts lottery fraudster
Time and again, a woman in Austria won lottery winnings. But the alleged lucky streak calls the police on the scene. It turns out: The supermarket saleswoman apparently took the bills herself and thus stole thousands of euros.
Because of a suspicious streak of luck, a supermarket employee in Austria is targeted by the judiciary. As the Salzburg police reported on Friday, the woman had issued lottery tickets worth around 40,000 euros in her shop without paying them. Accordingly, she printed out herself on the slot machine portal of the business lottery tickets with high stakes. They threw the corresponding receipts away.
The 22-year-old was blown after repeatedly cashing in winnings in tobacco shops in the Hallein area (state of Salzburg), the police reported. The saleswoman in one of the shops informed the lottery company about the noticeably frequent lottery hits. Video recordings in the supermarket of the young woman would have corroborated the suspicion.
According to the police, the suspect won a total of around 12,000 euros, of which she redeemed around 5,000 euros. She spent the money on various purchases. According to a police report, 39 lottery tickets, each with a prize, as well as clothing and EUR 950 in cash, were seized in the apartment and in the car of the accused.
The confessing woman was dismissed without notice and charged with infidelity. In the course of the investigation, the police also found that the woman does not have a driver’s license, even though she regularly drove to work by car.
