Another hard last minute blow for Marseille!
A few hours before the resumption of football matches, OM is shaken by two bad news. A third case has just been added.
OM: Without Konrad de la Fuente and Pol Lirola, but not only
For the Sunday match that will oppose the OM in Chauvigny in the round of 16 of the Coupe de France, several players will be absent from Jorge Sampaoli’s squad. The Marseille coach has announced two cases of Covid-19 within his workforce. These are Pol Lirola and Konrad de la Fuente who will not be part of this poster which could have allowed the first to revive. After a mixed first part of the season during which he still scored one but in 22 matches, Pol Lirola had to use this rehearsal before the hour to prepare to better attack the second part of the season. The versatile right defender, he also plays right midfielder, recently pointed to a change in “system compared to last season” to explain his decline in performance.
Even chosen for the American striker Konrad de la Fuente, on loan from the FC Barcelona. After a strong start to the season, he gradually regressed to be no more than a random player at OM. Despite a decent playing time in Ligue 1 where he accumulated 771 minutes of playing time in the first part, the striker never found his way to the goals. He could also have used this match against the modest club of Chauvigny to warm up before attacking the second part of the season. Covid-19 requires, the American striker will miss, like Pol Lirola, the call of his trainer on Sunday.
The Olympique de Marseille without Valentin Rongier
But these two players are not the only ones to seal this return of OM on the ground. Jorge Sampaoli will again do without Valentin Rongier. The former FC Nantes player is injured. He was therefore brilliant by his absence in training yesterday morning. According to La Provence, the midfielder “suffers from an injury to the sole of a foot”. His presence in tomorrow’s Sunday match against Chauvigny is therefore clearly called into question.
Jorge Sampaoli will have to successfully do without this little world. The step not high enough in front of US Chauvigny should allow the Olympique de Marseille to shine during his trip to New Aquitaine. A misstep that can cause disorder, the Argentine coach will have to double vigilance against this small team of National 3. Stephane Malloyer, manager of the team currently 4th in its championship, will want to gain visibility by eliminating the Marseille team.
