Ariel Weil wishes for the year
Dear inhabitants, dear inhabitants of Paris Center,
To send you my best wishes in this new year, I am standing in the old town hall of the second arrondissement where we welcomed the seniors for the traditional distribution of end-of-year chocolates. A place where a municipal public service, that of social action, associations such as Emmaüs Connect which bridges the digital divide and volunteers mobilized by the Fabrique de la Solidarité.
This solidarity between generations, towards the most disadvantaged is more necessary than ever as we fight against the upsurge of the Covid epidemic. And I am proud of the mobilization of our municipal agents, the nursing staff who have allowed us for a year to keep our vaccination center open at the Paris Center town hall then at 22 rue Malher and we will reopen this month the vaccination center of the Place de l’Hotel de Ville, right in the center of Paris.
At the dawn of this new year, I would like to thank all those who are mobilized in the service of others: firefighters, municipal and national police officers, nursing staff and in particular at the Hôtel-Dieu, volunteers in street marauding. On this New Year’s Eve, I wanted to be at their side to express our solidarity.
Protecting the most vulnerable also means giving them more space in the public space, to move around better, to breathe better. This is why we are going to continue our policy of redistributing public space to the benefit first of all pedestrians, especially seniors, the youngest and people with reduced mobility.
A reinforced public service, an accentuated solidarity, a peaceful public space. This is what I wish you, what I wish for 2022.
Sweet and happy new year.
