A toxic product escapes in a factory in the North of Caen, the incident is over according to the prefecture
Smoke was released this Thursday around 10 p.m. in the Murata company located rue de la Girafe in the Mont-Coco industrial zone located north of Caen, in front of the CHU. It’s about a chemical leak which required the intervention of the firefighters, part of the night. The incident took place in the factory specializing in the manufacture of electronic circuits.
A poisonous gas, titanium tetrachloride (a derivative of chlorine), escaped as a liquid from a distribution system of a machine learned France Bleu Normandie. This caused the release of smoke then triggered the fire detection system. An employee, the guard, was exposed and supported by firefighters. But his state of health does not need transport to the hospital center. The 14 employees present on the site at the time of the incident were evacuated. No injuries are to be deplored.

About thirty firefighters from the Calvados departmental fire and rescue service were mobilized for part of the night. The incident is now closed according to the prefecture of Calvados, which we have joined. The toxic liquid that escaped was absorbed. According to the authorities, there is no risk of environmental pollution.
