Miscellaneous – Justice | Marseille: evacuation of illegally occupied apartments at the Petit Séminaire
An operation to evacuate illegally occupied apartments targeting buildings D, E and K of the city of the Petit Séminaire (13th) took place yesterday morning, the Prefecture said in a statement. State services coordinated interventions in conjunction with the City and the social landlord Habitat Marseille Provence, owner of the buildings.
Those rejected were referred to the Red Cross gymnasium provided by the municipality. Social operators, mandated by the State services, provided social support for evacuees and their orientation towards an emergency accommodation system. Thirty-four people were taken care of (5 women and 29 men) and referred either to an emergency accommodation structure (Forbin), or to a reception center for asylum seekers, or to a hotel. In the gymnasium, a Covid screening system has been set up by the Battalion of firefighters.
No positive cases were detected. The gymnasium was closed early in the afternoon after the last orientations were completed. Security work, in order to avoid any illegal occupation of the evacuated apartments, has been undertaken by Habitat Marseille Provence.
