Estonia plans to supply Ukraine with anti-tank weapons and howitzers
The Estonian Ministry of Defense plans to supply Ukraine with Javelin anti-tank missiles and 122-millimeter howitzers.
“We have supported the training of Ukrainian sappers, military medics, artillery and exchanged data since 2014. Now that Russian troops are re-concentrating near Ukraine’s borders, Estonia plans to significantly increase its support. of the ERR TV and Radio Broadcasting Portal, Peeter Kuimet, Head of the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Defense, on Thursday.
He acknowledged that the final decision must be approved by the United States as a country producing anti-tank weapons, as well as by former howitzer owners in Finland and Germany.
At one time, Estonia purchased and received Javelin missile support from the United States. The price of one missile ranges from EUR75 thousand to EUR130 thousand, depending on the contract and the specific type of missile. Estonia plans to supply Ukraine with dozens of such missiles.
In 2009, Estonia purchased 42 howitzers and ammunition in Finland for 31 million kroons. It is not reported how many guns it is ready to hand over to Ukraine. Ukraine has about 150 such guns in its arsenal.
In addition to sending weapons and ammunition, Estonia also plans to increase so-called assistance, in particular preparing to send a mobile complex of the Polish hospital, learn to work in the current military medics.
