Marco Rossi: if there is no possibility in Hungary, maybe I will live under a bridge
Gave a Christmas interview to Digi Sport for TV Marco Rossi, federal captain of the Hungarian national football team.
It was undulating as he had twice out of the national eleven Albania after a great European Championship performance, finishing away 1-1 with England and winning in Poland.
“After the European Championship, I thought our common dream could come true. I believed we could be competitive against England and Poland. And I was right. We got five points against them, and although I knew Albania could be a tough opponent, I didn’t expect that. that we get out of them twice, ”he said.
He was therefore hurt by criticism from supporters.
“Many people have approached the case from a financial point of view. Money in a situation we are not talking about at all. Being a Hungarian federal captain is not a matter of money! I could have earned three or four times more money elsewhere. They were also from the Premier League and the Chamionship. my offers, but I turned them down after the European Championships. Can you imagine what kind of money we’re talking about? “
Then he was surprised that after being snatched from the Albanians, they were tied for three days at Wembley.
“We didn’t talk to anyone, there was no leadership meeting, nothing. The guys got back to a level in three days, against a team that wanted to beat us. I remember all the criticism Gareth Southgate had to bear. A lot of people wanted to be fired – the man who took England to the World Cup final. We have to accept that this is part of our job.
If you win, you’re a good coach, if you lose, you’re an idiot. “
Rossi’s contract will expire at the head of the national team in 2025, and he doesn’t rule out he will be working in NB I again.
“Hungary has given me the opportunity to be a regular head coach. If I don’t have that opportunity, I might be under one of the bridges in Italy. I don’t have as many bridges as in Hungary, but I would have found one for sure. My feelings will always be special for Hungary.”
He also tries to learn the language, but it’s “somehow very complicated, maybe I’m not smart enough”.
