Driving in all circumstances, in all weathers: it can be learned
In Bruguières, north of Toulouse, the Centaure center provides training for motorists to better understand the risks of the road, especially in winter.
Who has never been afraid on a snowy or icy road? Who has never been surprised by late braking on a wet road? Finally, who can boast of always having the right reflex when faced with a dangerous situation on the road?
Driving in all circumstances is not an exact science, despite the hours of learning and passing the driver’s license. Also, training regularly may seem like a good solution to not lose control.
This is the meaning of the training offered by the Centaure organization. The center of Bruguières, north of Toulouse, offers sessions on the theme “Live the risk to avoid it“.
On the program, light vehicles equipped with smooth tires, lines, curves of turns, and especially a copiously sprayed asphalt and a turntable which causes a change of trajectory: the “trainees” are confronted with different dangerous situations.
“They must try to adapt to the situation, taking into account the grip, the tires, the condition of the road.», Explains Alain Person, the trainer. These are situations that you can find in winter on snow-covered roads.“.
Many accidents are linked to poor speed adaptation to a situation, not necessarily excessive speed.
Alain Person, Centaur trainer
“It is not because some of the roads go at 80 km / hour that all of a sudden all the turns go to 80“, continues Alain Person.”You have to ask yourself the question: is it wet? I must take it off!“
It should be known in fact, in the event of rain, the adhesion to the road is not any more at all the same: up to 50% of loss of adhesion on the wet pavement. Golden rule, therefore: in a dangerous situation, lower your speed and above all, always drive with tires in good condition. In case of doubt, a small internship can allow you to be convinced and leave more vigilant. And more confident.
