Brussels on the podium of the cities with the most files in the world!
The US company responsible for the Inrix Traffic application has published an annual ranking of the cities with the highest number of files in the world. Unfortunately, this ranking is anything but positive for Belgium, as Brussels takes third place in terms of traffic volume. Even worse: the city climbs to the second place of the cities with the lowest average speed!
The impact of Covid purchase
To draw up this ranking, Inrix takes into account many elements: the number of hours lost, the density of the road network, the location during rush hour, etc. As 2020 is a distorted picture due to the corona crisis, the company examined the latest figures comparable to 2019, a normal year.
Climbed up!
Result: Brussels… capital has increased by 22 compared to 2019! The rest of the podium is completed by Paris and London, who climb to the top of the standings. Mexico City, Munich and Wroclaw in Poland are the cities with the fewest number of stocks.
Slowly, but…
In the lowest speed classification, Brussels takes the silver medal. On average you only drive 16 km/h! Only Palermo in Italy is doing worse, with a speed of 14.4 km/h. But such numbers make sense. In 2021, the capital has received a speed limit of 30 km/h to reduce congestion. A plan that clearly failed. You drive much slower there, on the road traffic in 2019 is only completed by 4%. Brussels and cars, it is apparently not a winning combination…
