While Terrier opened the scoring for Rennes, Monaco finally turned the tables to win 2-1 at home thanks to Ben Yedder and Volland.
Laborde – Terrier, a bond that pays
We were dealing this evening with two of the most playful teams in our Ligue 1, and the face of the meeting was quick to confirm it. After a first recovery from the head of Sofiane Diop too removed, on a cross from Wissam Ben Yedder (6th), it was Gaëtan Laborde who placed a framed but imprecise header in the gloves of Alexander Nübel (7th). Better entered technically in the meeting, the teammates of Jonas Martin quickly confirmed their domination by opening the scoring by Martin Terrier, after a good combination with Laborde (0-1, 18th). Ninth but this season for Terrier, fourth assist for Laborde: this association is a successful business. The former Montpellier Hérault striker was also close to scoring a few minutes later (25th), but after sowing Axel Disasi, he could not straighten the trajectory of the ball in front of Nübel.
Monaco and Ben Yedder end the year with a smile
But whatever the adversary, an evening at Louis-II is not one without one but registered by Wissam Ben Yedder. On a penalty obtained after an avoidable hand fault by Hamari Traoré, the official scorer of the team of the Rock scored, with the calm we know him in this exercise, the 10th but of his season in Ligue 1 a few minutes before returning to the locker room (1-1, 35th). The excitement which then seized the Bretons has never left them: after a clear opportunity from Ismail Jakobs narrowly exited by Alfred Gomis (61st), it is Kevin Volland who will achieve the goal of victory for his family. The former Hoffenheim and Bayer Leverkusen striker took advantage of a clever handover from Diop to get ahead of Loïc Badé and score closely (2-1, 72nd). The resumption of the right of Baptiste Santamaria pushed back by the bar (75th) is already quite forgotten: this success of the men of Niko Kovač allows them to finish the calendar year in sixth place, two points behind Lovro Majer’s teammates. For Bruno Génésio’s players, the truce and the holidays come at the right time, after this third defeat in four Ligue 1 games.
