The movement of garbage collectors’ strike really starting to see each other in the Pink City. In the streets of Toulouse and other municipalities in the metropolis, the trash cans overflow.
And the end of the mobilization does not seem planned for immediately, which augurs a mess of waste during the Christmas and New Year, who traditionally carry even more work to collection agents.
A strike even more followed according to the unions
On Wednesday 22 December 2021, the Toulouse Métropole collection agents have planned to renew the strike started a week ago. According to Benoit Fontanilles, spokesperson for the intersyndicale (FO, CGT, FA-FPT, FSU, Solidaires Sud and Unsa), the strike promises to be particularly followed on Wednesday.
“In Toulouse alone, we will have nearly 90% of strikers, on the workforce able to work, Wednesday at the depots of Monlong and Raisin. It is the first time that there will be so many agents on strike since the beginning of the movement. And the strike will last for the following days, ”said the spokesperson for the intersyndicale.
In contrast, no gathering is planned.
compensations for acting the end of the finite?
At the end of last week, the day after a gathering of agents in front of the metropolitan council, the unions representing the garbage collectors had yet recorded the abandonment of the “finished party”, which foreshadowed a close agreement between the garbage collectors and the community. But the hotspot of the negotiations remains to this day compensation measures put in place to seal the end of the finished party.
Negotiations did take place last Friday and Monday, but each time they did not reach an agreement. A meeting was once again held on Tuesday, December 21 between Toulouse Métropole and the intersyndicale … but again, the negotiations did not give anything.
“What we want is for Toulouse Métropole to set up a percentage of arduousness that would be spread out each day, which would amount to a daily reduction in working time. But the administration refuses this solution, and does not want to go further on the days of leave. There is also a block on the remuneration of public holidays ”, explains Benoit Fontanilles at Actu Toulouse.
“Toulouse will be dirty at Christmas”
Failing to agree, the strike is therefore renewed and the conflict is bogged down… The people of Toulouse will therefore undoubtedly spend the Christmas holidays in well-filled garbage cans. “The ball is in the administration’s court. We have done everything not to get there but there will be garbage at Christmas. We chose neither the method nor the timetable. Because of the dogmatism of the community, Toulouse will be dirty at Christmas! », Continues Benoit Fontanilles.
A new meeting could take place on Friday, December 24, but it was not formally recorded on Tuesday evening.
