Index – Sport – EHF played with the idea that Hungary will host all men’s European Championship matches
THE Bild Monday’s news: The European Handball Federation (EHF) has previously considered hosting all the 2022 Men’s European Championships in Hungary.
As is well known, in the summer of 2018 in Glasgow, the EHF awarded Hungary and Slovakia the right to host a continental tournament. At the time, the coronavirus epidemic had not yet defined the daily routine of sports life, but the situation has changed since then.
According to the German newspaper, EHF was preoccupied with the question of whether the tournament could not be held in Hungary alone. According to the original plans, Budapest, Szeged, Debrecen, Bratislava and Košice are the organizing cities.
The seven-day incidence rate is currently 710.8 in Slovakia and 367.2 in Hungary (December 20 data). In terms of infection rates, Slovakia ranks fourth with a healthy 24.47 healthy.
Bild adds that according to the international association, the plan to move the entire tournament to Hungary has been removed from the table. However, as they write, it also confirms that there were thought processes about this.
The European Championships start on 13 January and end on 30 January. The final will be held in Budapest in the new sports hall handed over a few days ago.
