Compulsory vaccination: How many jobs in hospitals quit?
politics
The imminent mandatory vaccination for health professions will hardly lead to nursing staff quitting, say works councils in Salzburg hospitals. The reason is the general introduction of mandatory vaccination for the entire population.
In France, for example, health workers have been required to have vaccinations for several months. Less than one percent quit there, i.e. the Salzburg staff representatives. Initially, there were many announcements from health workers that they would change jobs if politics enforced the compulsory vaccination. This is confirmed by Markus Pitterka, Chairman of the Employee Works Council at the Salzburg State Hospital.
Does general duty change the situation?
But because all guilds in Austria are required to be vaccinated from February onwards, the situation has changed, says works councilor Christian Freisinger from the Hospital of the Barmherzige Brüder: five to seven percent will quit their professions. If there is a duty for the whole population, the whole thing will not be so strong or not at all. “
“Bad pay much stronger factor”
The comparison of the numbers shows that a total of 418 employees left the house in the Landeshaus in the CoV year 2021, which also includes retirement. Three years ago the number was even 50 higher and was just under 470 people. The decision to change jobs is made less because of the compulsory vaccination, says works council chairman Markus Pitterka – but because of the high workload and dissatisfaction with pay.
