South of Toulouse: an octogenarian dies burnt while tinkering
A man was found dead by his relatives on Friday in Mancioux, a small town in Comminges
A dramatic domestic accident was discovered late Friday morning in the town of Mancioux, after Martres-Tolosane in the south of Haute-Garonne. Worried not to hear from her husband, this woman went to the barn where he was busy tinkering. She discovered her lifeless husband with burns on his upper body.
The firefighters were alerted and a medical team from Smur 31 stationed in Saint-Gaudens also moved but the victim, aged 83, could not be resuscitated. In all likelihood, this man who was tinkering with a thermal grinder was probably surprised by the sparks caused by his work. The top of his clothes would have caught fire. The handyman tried to remove them, he was discovered partially shirtless, but the serious burns undoubtedly caused discomfort.
The Saint-Gaudens prosecutor asked a forensic doctor to examine the body. This specialist considered that the intervention of a third party should be ruled out and confirmed the accidental circumstances of this death. The gendarmes of the Saint-Martory brigade had already carried out checks in the barn without finding any suspicious traces. The prosecution did not consider it necessary to carry out an autopsy.
