FC Metz is the first Ligue 1 club eliminated in the 32nd finals of the Coupe de France by an amateur club, in this case Sunday in Bergerac (0-0 ap, tab: 5-4) which plays in National 2, i.e. the fourth national level.
The Monegasques held their sound without embellishment on Sunday, during the yet perilous trip to the boiling Bauer stadium, on the ground of the Red Star (0-2). Wissam Ben Yedder scored the two victory goals (33rd, 67th) for Niko Kovac’s team, who took this meeting very seriously by lining up a typical team, with Aurélien Tchouameni, Kevin Volland, Aleksandr Golovin or still Djibril Sidibé holders.
Lens had more trouble in Poitiers (0-1), a National 3 club – fifth division – which was however reduced to ten in the wake of Ganago’s only goal at the end of the first period (37th). Saint-Etienne, for the first of Pascal Dupraz, pulled away to win the derby on the ground of Lyon-La Duchère (0-1), which plays in National 2. Arnaud Nordin scored the goal of the qualification to the half hour of play (32nd). There too, Franck Haise like Pascal Dupraz had not made a special turn.
On the other hand, the surprise came from Bergerac who took out Metz on penalties (0-0 ap, tab: 5-4). The only failure came from Pape Sarr, who ran into local goalkeeper Pierre Laborde-Turon, necessarily the hero of the day.
