Gaia argues for Flemish and Brussels ban on the sale of foie gras through force feeding
Animal rights organization Gaia urges Flemish Minister of Animal Welfare Ben Weyts and his Brussels colleague Bernard Clerfayt to issue a ban on the sale of foie gras obtained through force feeding.
Both regions already have force-feeding bans, but such are not allowed to be sold. Gaia now also wants to put a stop to that.
During an investigation at various foie gras growers in Wallonia, Gaia identified various abuses, ranging from filth to animal suffering and abuse. The organization therefore advocates that Wallonia, like Flanders and Brussels, ban this practice. She also wants the trade in such foie gras in Flanders and Brussels to be curbed.
‘That must be invoked by animal mass’, Michel Van must be stopped at an absolute halt. ‘Ministers Weyts and Clerfayt must dare to go a step further and be able to do it to trigger the sale of cruel torture foie gras. In the Brussels Region, there is a proposal for ordinance in this regard during.’ Walloon Animal Welfare Minister Céline Tellier has already announced an investigation into the facts.
