Toulouse. Christian Reina: “A limit of 1,000 runners”
As its manager explains, the race was almost canceled at the start of the week due to the flooding of the Garonne.
Why was this 7th edition threatened with cancellation?
Following the flood of the Garonne in recent days, there was a risk of having to give up this 2021 version because the route had to be longer along the river. Finally, in agreement with the town hall of Toulouse, we were able to make adjustments on the circuit so that everything could take place in the best conditions. Thus, the departure and arrival will indeed be at the Quai de la Daurade. On the menu, there is a 5 km with a start at 9.45 a.m. and a 10 km at 10.15 a.m. At the same time, we will also welcome walkers. In principle, the weather should not be too capricious.
How many participants will you reduce?
For the moment, we have registered 950 registrations. But given the health context, we decided to set a limit of 1,000 runners who should be reached. To hope to obtain a bib, you must go to the Decathlon store in the city center, this Saturday, between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Regarding the children, we had planned activities. Unfortunately, due to the Covid, we have decided to cancel them. We don’t take any risks. Thus, the wearing of a mask will be compulsory for participants until departure. And for refueling after the race, we have prepared individual pockets.
How many volunteers will be by your side?
We will be able to count on about fifty volunteers, not to mention a doctor and rescuers.
Are you maintaining the charitable aspect?
Yes quite. As in previous years, part of the profits will be returned to “L’Association Dominique” which is at the service of disabled children and their families.
