Friday, December 17, 2021, the prefecture of Haute-Garonne announced that the security operations on the site of the Mirail Thermal Exploitation Company (SETMI) a Toulouse were finished. As a reminder, the 25-meter silo of an incinerator has threatened to collapse since November 29.
“The silo no longer presents any risks”
“Since the occurrence of this incident, Decoset (the owner of the site, editor’s note) and Veolia (the operator, editor’s note) have carried out operations to secure the silo, with the operational support of the SDIS and under the supervision of the DREAL, in order to to be able to empty it of the waste it contains, which are categorized as dangerous, ”explained the State services.
These emptying operations started on December 3 and continued until December 15. “The silo is empty, he no longer presents any risks and the verification of his condition will be able to begin. Since the incident, the activity of the incinerator has continued at a reduced load, the control and treatment of fumes are not assigned, ”the prefecture specified.
