of patients evacuated to relieve hospital pressure – Pages Monaco
Health indicators indicate an acceleration in the circulation of SARS-CoV-2 throughout the region to an unprecedented level. The incidence rate has been increasing continuously for several weeks and amounted this Friday, December 17 to 766 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate is 8.5%. On the same date, 1,495 people were hospitalized for Covid-19 in the region, including 368 in an intensive care unit or intensive care.
The Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Regional Health Agency (ARS Paca) has been working since the start of the epidemic on the basis of a graduated action plan, made up of stages to be “activated” according to the evolution of the epidemic and the outlook of the Institut Pasteur.
Each level implies an increasing level of additional bed openings to care for the most seriously ill patients.
The objective of this graduated plan: to anticipate the organizational measures to be started in the establishments to cope with the evolution of the volume of patients while maintaining the current activity of the establishments as long as possible. Access to technical referral platforms must be able to continue for patients suffering from serious pathologies to be taken care of without delay.
Level 4 of this plan, which corresponds to an occupancy rate greater than 50% of resuscitation beds by Covid patients with regard to initial capacities, has been activated since Monday, December 6, 2021.
In view of the speed of increase in pressure on the establishments, the ARS Paca does not exclude the passage to level 5 which induces a strong deprogramming of the activity in medicine and in surgery, by avoiding the loss of chance of the patients and by allowing capacity increases by redeploying effective units, surgical and medical units.
Medical evacuations to relieve the resuscitation services
Pending and within the framework of level 4 still in progress, in order to relieve the intensive care services, the first medical evacuations are already organized:
- Friday December 17: two patients from the AP-HM to the Brittany region;
- Saturday, December 18: three additional Paca patients to the Ile-de-France region;
- Further evacuations are expected to follow early next week.
These operations are the result of close collaboration between the national health crisis center, the various ARS, the Samu, the medical teams of the departure and destination health establishments and the services of the Prefecture of the department.
