The fifth wave of Covid-19 still hits the schools of the Toulouse academy but the situation has remained stable for two weeks. 2,676 students and 229 staff have tested positive this week.
While Covid-19 contaminations have only increased since the end of November, they are rather stable this week. But the worrying figures. In fact, 2,676 students from the Toulouse academy have tested positive for the coronavirus since Saturday, including 310 in the last 24 hours. As a reminder, from December 3 to 10, 2,734 students were infected.
On the staff side, 229 agents have tested positive during the past seven days. This is more than the past record, which amounts to 220 contaminations.
204 classes closed because of Covid-19 in the Toulouse academy
This week, 204 classes at the Toulouse academy had to close their doors because of Covid-19 contamination. This represents 0.65% of all classes at the Toulouse Academy. As a reminder, since November 29, primary school classes no longer close after the detection of a case of contamination. Students who test negative can return to class. Those who test positive are isolated for ten days. It was not until the onset of three cases of covid-19 in a single class that the reception of students is stopped for seven days.
This week, in detail, 56 classes closed in Haute-Garonne, 42 in Lot, 29 in Aveyron, 24 in Tarn, 20 in Gers, 15 in Hautes-Pyrénées, 13 in Tarn-et-Garonne and 5 in Ariège. The majority recognized in schools, 30 in colleges and seven in high schools.
As for the schools as a whole, three schools were closed, including two in the Lot and one in the Tarn-et-Garonne. No high school or college has ceased their activity.
