fifty meters underground, an urbex trip through the underground passages of the Château d’Annecy
In one of his latest videos, the young YouTuber Max Von Croft revealed a place full of stories, in an unusual place: an old World War II anti-aircraft shelter, under the castle of Annecy.
“It was one of the largest shelters in Annecy. We must have nearly 1.5 kilometers of galleries.” Youtuber Max Von Croft knows the place well. In one of his recent videos, the 26-year-old young man, who specializes in urbex – the urban exploration of abandoned places, recently showed the depths of the Château d’Annecy.
The premises were used as an air raid shelter during WWII. A discovery that had a particular resonance for him: his grandmother used to go there in the event of a bombardment alert.
“It was practically a living place at the time. People arrived there regularly, there were a lot of alerts.”, he explains. “It was the opportunity to ‘fish out’ a historical heritage that was completely forgotten and which concerned my family. My grandmother used to come here. That’s what motivated me, now no one knows this place. it must not be forgotten. “
“You can clearly see the old cables typical of anti-aircraft shelters and the Maginot line”, shows the videographer during the visit.
“People come here with fear, fear. It’s a place full of emotions.”, he continues. The place, located under a thickness of 50 meters of rock, subsequently became a reserve of cheeses.
But, they were then abandoned. From now on, only old rusty objects, silence and darkness occupy the underground passages of the Château d’Annecy.
