The Occitanie Regional Health Agency (ARS) assures him: the situation is “critical” in hospitals in the region. If the epidemic peak approaches, the situation in health establishments may worsen within two weeks, the fault of a “delay effect” of a fortnight between contaminations and hospitalizations.
The health situation is therefore delicate in Occitania but also in the rest of the national territory. One week before Christmas Eve, the Prime Minister Jean Castex made new announcements at the end of the Health Defense Council organized this Friday, December 17, 2021.
New measures announced
While Ireland has just announced the establishment of a curfew at 8 p.m. for restaurants and bars, France has not yet taken this path. The Prime Minister has not announced a curfew for France. Here are the main announcements:
- The government will ask the prefect to ban concerts and fireworks for the New Year ;
- Easy access to the booster dose : from January 3, the recall will be possible after a period of four months (compared to five months currently);
- From Monday December 20, the overtime pay will be doubled for hospital staff ;
- From January, the government will submit to Parliament a bill to transformer sanitary pass en pass the vaccine. “Only vaccination will be valid in the past”, specifies Jean Castex.
Regarding family reunions during the holidays, the Prime Minister did not recommend a gauge. He appeals to the “common sense of the French” by asking them to avoid large gatherings.
What is the health situation in Toulouse?
While these new measures have been announced, where is the health situation in Toulouse?
In the territory of Toulouse Metropolis, the incidence rate is 538.3 positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants (according to figures communicated by Public Health France for the week of December 8 to 14), while as a reminder, the alert threshold set at 50 positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
And in Haute-Garonne?
In Haute-Garonne, the incidence rate is 536 positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants and we counted on average 1,071 daily cases during the week of December 7 to 13. The positivity rate (proportion of positive tests in all tests, editor’s note) is 5.9%.
If all age groups are condemned, it is particularly among 0-9 years (709 cases per 100,000) and among 30-39 years (780 cases per 100,000) that the virus is circulating very actively.
In the hospital, 263 people were hospitalized, born 58 in intensive care Thursday, December 16 in Haute-Garonne. According to Covid Tracker, while the vaccination rate is 75.2% in the department (all population combined, editor’s note), the hospital blood pressure is 36% in Haute-Garonne (if this rate is greater than 100%, then Covid19 patients occupy more intensive care beds than there were before the epidemic, editor’s note).
Since the start of the pandemic, 956 people died following the Covid in Haute-Garonne, according to the latest figures communicated by ARS Occitanie.
