“Winterfest” opens its tents with artists from all over the world
The organizers of the winter festival didn’t want to miss that: Despite pandemic-related restrictions, the circus festival in Salzburg can start later than originally planned, but at least it can start. The Australian group “Gravity & Other Myths” will kick off with their acrobatic number “Backbone”. Demonstrations are planned for the event until January 8th.
The venue is the Szene event house and the circus tent set up for the festival in the Volksgarten. In addition to the artists from Australia, the Swiss clown duo Wakouwa Teatro (December 21st to 8th), the group Cirque Barcode from Canada (December 21st to 29th), the Belgian comedian Jos Houben (December 28th and 29th) and acrobatics -Duo Circoncentrique from Switzerland (27.12. To 8.1.) Perform their shows.
The winter festival has been taking place in the Volksgarten Salzburg since 2001. From a single small event, which took on the then unknown art form “Cirque Nouveau”, became the third largest cultural organizer in Salzburg and one of the largest circus festivals in German-speaking countries.
