This event has been a fixture in the winter sports calendar for years: the Four Hills Tournament. At the turn of the year from 2021 to 2022, the best ski jumpers in the world will jump off the hills again at the 70th edition of the Four Hills Tournament.
This time again, the venues are Oberstdorf, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Innsbruck and Bischofshofen. Unfortunately, no spectators are admitted to the two competitions in Germany, but how the situation will be at the two final competitions in Austria is still open.
Four Hills Tournament: date and schedule
The Four Hills Tournament 2021/22 begins on December 28th with the qualification for the opening competition in Oberstdorf that follows the next day. The other three competitions are scheduled for January 1st (Garmisch-Partenkirchen), January 3rd (Innsbruck) and January 6th (Bischofshofen).

Four Hills Tournament: The Hills
There is also jumping at the Vierschanzentounee on the Schattenbergschanze (Oberstdorf), the Great Olympic Hill (Garmisch-Partenkirchen), the Bergiselsschanze (Innsbruck) and the Paul-Ausserleitner-Schanze (Bischofshofen).
Every hill has its own characteristics, which makes it so difficult for jumpers to jump at the front at every tournament location.

Four Hills Tournament: broadcast on TV and live stream
Every qualification and every jumping of the Four Hills Tournament 2021/22 will be broadcast live on free TV and in a live stream.
The private broadcaster Eurosport shows the complete Four Hills Tournament on free-to-air television and on paid television Eurosport player, the official streaming channel of Eurosport.
Furthermore, transmission rights are held by the two public broadcasters ARD and ZDF. on The first the qualifications and jumping in Oberstdorf and Bischofshofen will be broadcast live, the ZDF takes over the live broadcasts from Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Innsbruck. Both channels always offer a free live stream.
Like all other ski jumping World Cup events, you can also take part in the Four Hills Tournament DAZN follow live and in full length. on DAZN are the two Eurosports channels (Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2) Available 24 hours a day.

Four Hills Tournament: mode and knockout stage
A qualification takes place on the day before each jumping. The 50 best jumpers of each qualification take part in the competition. Compared to the other World Cup competitions, these have a different mode. The 50 jumpers are divided into 25 duels. The first of the qualification jumps against the 50th, the 2nd against the 49th, the 3rd against the 48th – and so on.
The 25 winners of the knockout duels are fixed in the second round, plus the five losers with the highest points. The final round is carried out in a reversed order (i.e. the best point after jump one is the last).
The winner of the Four Hills Tournament will be as follows: After each jump, the points achieved (distance, wind, posture marks, inrun length) are added up. Whoever has the highest number of points after completing the four competitions wins the Four Hills Tournament.
