Thessaloniki: Problems with the availability of free self tests
Problems with the free shipping process self-tests to vaccinated and non-citizens are treated by pharmacists, according to Pharmaceutical Association of Thessaloniki (ΦΣΘ). As the Pharmaceutical Association of Thessaloniki points out in its announcement, “Once again we are called to serve the citizens without receiving clear instructions and often finding ourselves in a difficult position vis-.-Vis the beneficiaries.”
The FSTH points out that pharmacists are first and foremost health professionals and that is why they participate, where necessary, in every effort of the State to stop the pandemic. But this presupposes the necessary planning that will facilitate these actions.
“Pharmacies were supplied with self-tests packed in pens, which pharmacists are forced to unpack, select the 4 individual ingredients and be placed in packages of one in order to be able to serve the citizens. This process burdens our colleagues, who are already working under stressful and difficult conditions. “, explains FSTH.
He also emphasizes that “Suddenly a one-week extension was made available for free self-tests, which will double the workload in pharmacies“, while self-diagnosis tests could have been provided once for the holiday season, without repeating the process at the beginning of the new year, avoiding the hassle of citizens and pharmacists.”
FSTH characterizes the fact that “There are no instructions for use for self tests. The result is that the state asks the pharmacists to make photocopies of the form with the instructions for use that is in the package with the five of the self-diagnosis tests or to resort to other solutions, not at all practical “.
In addition, according to the FSTH, “There are no clear instructions on how to register self tests, as in the platform that has been done, there are two options: registration per five and registration per self test. The problem is that in the first option packages of 5 self tests seem to be registered, while one is granted and in the second option one package is registered, but the system is not renewed, with the result that it seems that pharmacies still have stock in self-diagnosis tests, while in fact they have exhausted it, but are unable to place a new order from their drugstore “.
“In no case will we tolerate the responsibility for the number of self tests that have been made available, when the state itself has not taken care of the proper operation of their registration system”, points out o Pharmaceutical Association of Thessaloniki.
At the same time, he emphasizes that “Every decision of the state regarding pharmacies, before it is announced, must be discussed with the representatives of the industry, who must protect their members. Unfortunately lately many decisions are being made without the necessary planning and organization. “We have never denied our participation in the actions of the state, but this should be done without burdening the smooth operation of our pharmacies.”
