After “No” to concrete mushrooms: This is what the sunny place should look like – Liechtenstein
TRIESEN – The first variant of the design of the Triesner Sonnenplatz was rejected by the voters at the ballot box. Now the local council is launching a new, sustainable project.
The Triesner municipal council unanimously passed a new project for further processing, which “should be able to win a majority within the population”, as the municipality announced on Tuesday. After the commitment credit for the design of the bus stop and the public area at «Sonnenplatz» was rejected, I positioned new project variants with the involvement of all political parties that positioned themselves in the vote with arguments for or against.
The final project and loan approval will be given by the municipal council in March 2022. With a cost ceiling of 410,000 francs (+/- 10%), the public area in front of Sonnenplatz is now to be equipped with a bus stop made from recycled concrete for ten people and a protected bicycle parking area. “The public space will be kept very green, a fountain with drinking facilities will be integrated,” writes the community. Furthermore, the millstones that die earlier are to be integrated into the new project. Additional trees in the central island of the highway are new to the project. The State of Liechtenstein will contribute around 70,000 francs to the total costs.
Insightful public discussion
The municipal council decision was preceded by an informative public talk at which three possible project variants were presented and discussed. “Not only the inputs from the population were included in the project specification, but also the design options were controversially but constructively weighed up against each other. From this public discussion, the municipal council was able to derive a very good picture of the mood and incorporate it into the decision-making process,” says the message Continue.
The variant now approved by the municipal council received the broadest approval at the public discussion. According to the notification, the visitors were able to mark their personal favorites by awarding points. Before the public talk, various project variants had already been presented, commented on and discussed in the community commissions involved.
