The feminization of street names continues in Toulouse. Friday, December 10, 2021, the elected officials of the City Council voted for new names in certain arteries of the Pink City. “In 2021, 59% of the newly received routes received a woman’s name,” says the town hall.
An alley called Clarissa Jean-Philippe
Among the names assigned, figure the aisle Clarissa Jean-Philippe, located between the chemin de Liffard and the impasse de Basso-Cambo, in the district of Saint-Simon, to the west. This 26-year-old municipal policewoman was murdered with a bullet in the back on January 8, 2015 by terrorist Amedy Coulibaly in Montrouge (Hauts-de-Seine).
The death of the policewoman occurred while, still a trainee, she was to be established in the following days.
Other female street names assigned
The City Council voted for new denominations on the same day. In Saint-Cyprien, on the site of the former Claudius Regaud center, we will now talk about the alley of professors Pontonnier and rue Amparo Poch y Gascon (doctor and feminist activist).
