Vancouver Giants Fabian Lysell and Jesper Vikman will play for Sweden – Aldergrove Star
Vancouver Giants Fabian Lysell and goalkeeper Jesper Vikman will be suitable for Sweden at the junior WC 2022 in Edmonton and Red Deer, AB.
Lysell, from Gothenburg, and Vikman, from Stockholm, are the only WHL members who have been selected to Sweden’s world junior list.
Giants General Manager Barclay Parneta announced on Wednesday, December 8, that “the Giants’ organization is proud of both players and we look forward to seeing both players get the chance to perform on the national stage.”
“Both Fabian and Jesper have played a big role in our team’s success so far this season and I know that they are both excited and fully deserved the opportunity to represent Sweden in World Juniors,” commented Parneta.

Lysell, a first-round (signed) election of the Boston Bruins from 2021, was originally selected by the Langley-based Giants with the 30th overall pick in the 2020 CHL Import Draft.
This season, Lysell is second in the team’s scoring with nine goals and 17 assists for 26 points. He has added seven power play points, a +13 rating and three “first goals”.
The 5’10 ”172 lb. the right-hander was selected 21st overall by the Boston Bruins in the 2021 NHL draft.
Lysell appeared in 26 matches with Luleå HF in the Swedish Hockey League last season. During that period, he scored two goals and one assist. He added three goals and 10 assists for 13 points in 11 matches with Frölunda HC’s J20 program.
He most recently represented Sweden at the World Junior Summer Showcase 2021. He scored three goals and added six assists for nine points in seven matches on his way to a bronze medal with Sweden in the U18 world. Since the start of the 2018-19 season, Lysell has participated in 48 international matches.

Jesper Vikman, a selection in the fifth round of the Vegas Golden Knights from 2020, was selected as the eighth overall by the Giants in the 2021 CHL Import Draft.
The 6’3 “, 179-pound left-handed goalkeeper has a record of 11-3-1-0 with 2.92 goals against the average, a save percentage of 0.912 and two shutouts. He has won each of his last five starts as goes back to November 23 in Portland and his 11 wins have made him ranked third in the Western Hockey League, he was drafted by Vegas in the fifth round (125th overall) in the 2020 NHL draft.
Vikman participated in 22 total matches with AIK J20 (J20 National), AIK (HockeyAllsvenskan) and Tyresö / Hanviken (HockeyEttan) last season in Sweden.
He finished with a record of 10-10 and a shutout.
Since 2018-19, Vikman has participated in three international matches for Sweden (U18 and U17) and had 2-1.
Sweden starts 2022 World Juniors on December 26 at 13:30 against Russia.
