A great project disseminated on Pier Paolo Pasolini in Rome on the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of his birth. Which involves three institutions of the capital is committed to celebrating one of the most complex, controversial and eclectic characters of the Italian cultural scene of the twentieth century, on the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of his birth. It is dedicated to Pier Paolo Pasolini (Bologna, 1922 – Rome, 1975), EVERYTHING IS HOLY, an exhibition that will be seen from October 2022 to March 2023 Palazzo delle Esposizioni, Palazzo Barberini and the MAXXI Museum in Rome poet, director, playwright, painter and essayist, prominent figure and litmus test to understand the history and dynamics of post-war Italy.
ALL PIER PAOLO PASOLINI ON SHOW IN ROME. FIRST STOP AT THE EXHIBITION PALACE
The title of the project, EVERYTHING IS HOLY, is inspired by one of Pasolini’s most famous works, Medea, a 1969 film in which the wise Chirone pronounces this sentence evoking “The mysterious sacredness of the world: the world of the underclass, archaic, religious, in clear with the heroes of a rational, secular, bourgeois world”, all reflections that are at the center of Pasolini’s thought and work, making him a essential point of reference for understanding the Italy of his time (and not just hers). The first exhibition is scheduled from 17 October 2022 to 20 January 2023 at Palazzo delle Esposizioni: here a particular aspect of the figure of the intellectual will be explored, that of poet, writer and cinematographic author in which body and word are one.. “In this exhibition”, the organizers explain, “Pasolini is seen in a radical dimension of poet and author, always lived with the totality of a body that crosses the world and experiences the dimension of physicality as fullness and splendor and tragedy, in an extreme love for life and for reality”.
PIER PAOLO PASOLINI AT AN EXHIBITION IN ROME. THE STAGES AT PALAZZO BARBERINI AND MAXXI
From 28 October 2022 to 13 February 2023 it will be the turn of the exhibition at Palazzo Barberini, where the role that Pasolini has played will be analyzed “In our imagination, our perception and interpretation of images, between the aesthetic dimension, historical-anthropological heritage and ideological commitment”. Visitors thus, through the “Pasolini’s gaze”, obtain with the possibility of confronting the themes of the sacred, of the gesture, of the passion of the body, our relationship with the art of the past. The trilogy of exhibitions concludes with the one that will be inaugurated at MAXXI on November 16, 2022 (until March 12, 2023), a reading of Pasolini’s work conducted by contemporary artists, with works that evoke the political commitment and social contents of his thought and of his work. Throughout the project, events and performances will also be organized in the three exhibition venues, with the involvement of the foreign academies in Rome, the Luce / Cinecittà Archive and the Experimental Center of Cinematography.
