DPD expands network of ‘lockers’ in Portugal
AN DPD will expand its network of ‘lockers’ with 15 new installations in Sonae’s shopping centres, which will join the more than 50 ‘lockers’ already operating in Portugal.
In a statement, the company said that “these equipment – which result from a partnership with a Pudo Portugal – represent the ideal solution for the logistics associated with online orders, as they provide convenience and proximity to those who sell in drop-off mode, but also to those who buy in pick-up mode “.
“Through the DPD’s ‘cabinets’, the consumer has greater autonomy, as he is able to pick up his order at the time that is most convenient for him, seven days a week, 24 hours a day and for a period of three days after receiving the notice for such operation, “indicates the DPD, considering that” the ‘cabinets’ are, therefore, a reliable alternative to home deliveries, which conveniently adjusts to the needs and daily rhythms of each person. buyer”.
“When, in October 2020, we launched our new locker delivery service, we knew that it was a matter of months before the Portuguese took up this form of receiving their orders in a very significant way. Right there, we drew up a network expansion plan for a lot of equipment and this step with Sonae is just one of many that will be communicated in the near future”, says Olivier Establet, CEO of DPD Portugal, quoted in the same press release.
