The calm of a small provincial village is interrupted by the arrival of a film crew. He is there to shoot a horror film set in the ruins of a nearby abandoned castle which – according to legend – is haunted by spirits. For the locals it is an unprecedented event, but it becomes even bigger when the director chooses Giulio, a local child, as the lead actor. Suddenly, the boy finds his eyes fixed on him: everyone does nothing but talk about him. There are those who torment him to take yet another photo together, who speaks ill of him on social media and who instead – suggested by the dark atmospheres of the film – begins to fear that Giulio really has evil powers. In this concrete and pulsating debut, Juta has created a story of great intensity, which returns even to disillusioned readers the most authentic and unforgettable thrill: the fear of growing up.
