A hundred fetish objects that belonged to the fashion designer were offered for sale, during auctions held last weekend in Monaco.
Decoration, accessories, cars … Buyers from all over the world took part in an auction this weekend featuring hundreds of items that belonged to Karl Lagerfeld, and which is held in Monaco.
Among the most awaited lots by collectors is a statue of Choupette, the famous cat of the creator. Made in ceramic in 2014, it was estimated between 5,000 and 7,000 euros, and soared to more than 20,000 euros.
Also on offer were drawings in pencil or pen, tables, chairs, pedestal tables, or even two cars: Rolls-Royce Phantoms, with bets of over 300,000 euros. A self-portrait of the famous designer was bought for 107,000 euros.
For Pierre Mothes, vice-president of Sotheby’s France who organized this sale, these auctions are “like a tribute to his personality, we wanted them to produce and represent all the categories he was able to collect, but also his fashion. sumptuous life, and at the same time, its generosity “.
A pair of mittens sold for 48,000 euros
Among the lots are also suitcases with which Karl Lagerfeld traveled around the world, or his iconic black jackets. Because it was also possible to afford fetish elements from the Lagerfeld “look” outfit, such as mittens, glasses … Dozens of mittens were sold this weekend.
“He had, in this use of mittens, this idea of not showing his hands and at the same time, to keep an attitude for the fingers”, told us Pierre Mothes, evoking “a very great worker, a very great designer who should not be embarrassed to use all of his fingers “.
Points in metal, rhinestones, chains … Several styles were to be found at the Monegasque auctions, and many pairs were, of course, signed Chanel. One of them sold for 48,000 euros.
The sale will launch on December 14, in Paris.
