About 6,000 union militants march through Brussels during national day of action, disruption at STIB and De Lijn
«People see the prices in the shops and at the pump, the welfare adjustment only by 0.4 percent increase,» says Mathieu Verjans, national secretary of the ACV. “The distributions to shareholders have seen more increases. This is a message to employers and the government. This wage standard must be adjusted.” The high energy bill actions, attacks on the index and the criminalization of trade unions are also high on the unions. Among other things, they went to the bottom of 17 trade unionists, ABVV chairman Thierry Bodson, for the blocking of a viaduct on the E40 in Liège.
The demonstration is loud, with a lot of bangs, but without incident.
Disruption with public transport
De Lijn, STIB and TEC are experiencing disruption due to the national day of action of the three trade unions. The socialist trade union ABVV and the Christian trade union ACV join the demonstration in Brussels, the liberal ACLVB focuses more on local actions.
As expected, six out of ten buses and trams run in Flanders. This is the second time that the ‘continuity of service’ system, an alternative service, has been applied to The line. on www.delijn.be/alternatievedienstverlening and www.geschrapteritten.be travelers can go for the latest status of their journey.
Only metro line 1 runs in Brussels, and that line has been extended to Erasmus. Trams run on lines 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 51 and 92. There will be no more traffic on the other metro and tram on Monday, reports the STIB on social media. The bus lines 12, 34, 36, 46, 53, 54, 56, 59, 65, 71, 74, 78, 87, 88 and 95 also run on Monday morning.
Also at the Walloon public transport company TEC is, uh, hinder. There is disruption on dozens of lines in the various provinces. On some lines there are no buses at all, on others there is an occasional bus. At the NMBS there is no obstruction by the action.
