A giant fresco by rapper Jul at the entrance to Marseille
Impossible to miss it while driving for example on the A55 at the entry or the exit of Marseilles. A giant portrait of rapper Jul is now required in blue and white. This is a fresco by 23 meters high and 15 meters wide across the entire facade of a building in an industrial zone near the Cité Consolat in the 16th arrondissement from the city, in front of the white letters “Marseille” already clearly visible when you arrive by car at the entrance to Marseille.
The drawing of the Marseille rapper is signed by the Parisian artist Hoveh, who is also a fan of the Marseille rapper. Everything was done by the company “Hand painted” who is finalizing the portrait this Tuesday.
In five days, the portrait was produced by a group of five rope painters and their coordinator. The choice of location owes nothing to chance: it is a facade in full view, especially from the train or the highway, and therefore regularly rented for wall advertisements. Usually, they are represented on large tarpaulins, but this time it is indeed a real painting that stretches 23 meters in height.
This giant portrait of Jul was produced as part of a collaboration with Fifa 22 video game (Playstation) who rented this space. On these Fifa 2022 digital football fields, it was already possible to “celebrate” his goals with the sign popularized by the Marseille rapper.
This giant fresco is not, however, intended to stay here indefinitely. According to the company “Hand painted”, it will be visible until the beginning of January, before being probably announced … by another advertisement.
