Organized tourism without oxygen, “Christmas 2021 as 2020 are the cancellations”
“Between cancellations, postponements, indecisions, between those who had to leave and those who no longer leave the sector is even more troubled”. Luca Ruco in charge (CTO San Marino) once again launches a cry of alarm “The fourth wave is now inexorably without braking, while we are already losing German and Austrian tourists, in addition to all of Eastern Europe and since last week they have also canceled the Italian groups, all given more by uncertainty than by fear. By now that of Organized tourism is a taboo and to think that this should have been the first Christmas of semi-resumption for tourism, but the infections and cancellations both find themselves following an upward curve. Just a month ago there were 70 million Christmas bookings of which 35 million were Italians alone: today cancellations already amount to three million Italians and foreigners have almost disappeared, while 16 million Italians who were ready to book and more than half booked are “frozen”, waiting to understand what turn the fourth wave will take. Obviously, what will remain will be local tourism and above all individual market, therefore all or almost disintermediated. It seems to live in a tunnel with no exit ”continues Ruco. “In the T TG’s fourth acquaintance, in October with an economic propensity, it was and partiremer starting high but unfortunately the wave changes new cards on the table. I hope that the government will take urgent liquidity from the side of, because between cancellation penalties and other losses as in 2020, also for 2021 I see more and more complicating the resistance of operators with huge losses, operators that I remember over 400 families and have in the historical 162 Millions of annual turnover today remained at just under 20 million. Waiting for the meeting with Finance Secretary Gatti to take immediate action, we are putting ourselves back to the good sense of the government and politics in general ”.
