AKA Vorarlberg defeated the young stars of Salzburg – Bregenz twice
Great moment for the Vorarlberg academy: an incredibly successful home graduation in the autumn round of the ÖFB junior championship for the local academy teams. The country selection defeated the current table leader in the age groups of U-18s and U-15s twice.
The fifth goal of the season by the captain and Viktoria Bregenz player Valentin Matkovic and the fifth goal by Erkin Yalcin from Lochau brought the under-18 team of coach Heinz Fuchsbichler a sensational 2-1 home win against the Mozartstadters. The Salzburg star ensemble was still unbeaten in this championship after ten wins. Matkovic and Co. inflicted their first defeat of the season on the Bulls. By the way: For the second time in just minutes, the Vorarlberg team achieved the feat of defeating the bulls of this age group twice with the same result. Vorarlberg also won against Salzburg on May 29, 2021. The U-18-Elf from Vorarlberg is fourth in the table, but only because of the worse goal difference behind Austria Wien with equal points.
The under-15 team with trainer Ahmet Cil also delivered a big surprise. Rankweiler Churchill Henry Amenaghawon (28th) and Lauteracher goal guarantee Mauro Hämmerle (eighth goal of the season) were the guarantors for the sensational victory against the leaders from Salzburg with their goals. As a peat factory, Vorarlberg has scored as many goals as the cops. With their success, Hämmerle and Co. also consolidated third place in the table, four points ahead of St. Pölten. For the Cil-Elf it was the fourth home win in a row and is now also the best team on their own facility in this age group.
With 0: 7, the under 16 eleven came under the wheels. But the team of coach Helmut Hafner had to do without captain Felix Oberwaditzer and Christopher Olivier (both injured). Despite the debacle, second place is still possible after the first half of the season. In the last 90 minutes at LASK Juniors in Upper Austria, however, a win is a must.
