54. Days of Organ Music in Krakow
The festival was created to commemorate the merits of prof. Bronisław Rutkowski – artist, teacher and long-time rector of the State Higher School of Music in Krakow, thanks to whom so much organ art in Poland. As part of the official events: there are recitals, letters, concerts, symphonic concerts and / or symphonic concerts, and a rich repertoire of the cycle of development of the work from time to modern times. Organ literature was presented by presentations such as Marie-Claire Alan, Jennifer Bate, Guy Bovet, Josef Bucher, Olivier Latry, Simon Preston, Lionel Rogg, Daniel Roth, Almut Rössler, David Titterington and Gillian Weir.
Concerts of this year’s edition of Organ Music Days, due to the conservation of philharmonic organs, which will be located mainly in Krakow churches. The first of the concerts will take place on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at 8.00 p.m. in the Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel and St. Stanisław Biskupa i Męczennika na Skałka, where the organist Eugenio Maria Fagiani will perform in the repertoire from Johann Sebastian and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, to Wilhelm Rust, Gaetano Donizetti and Johann Christian Heinrich Rinck. The second concert – on Friday, December 3 this year. at. 19.30 was elected in Nowa Huta’s Arch of the Lord. Polish organist Julian Gembalski performed during the evening organ recital. The program includes works by Georg Muffat, Piotr Drusiński and Johann Sebastian Bach and the artist himself – Two Advent choral preludes, as well as improvisation on the theme of Advent songs. A day later, on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at At 6.00 p.m. in the Krakow Philharmonic Hall at Zwierzyniecka Street there will be a ceremonial oratorio concert, which is part of this year’s Organ Music Days, but also the celebration of the jubilee of the Academy, the 625th anniversary of the establishment of the Faculty of Theology and the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Pontifical Theology in Krakow. During the concert performed by the Krakow Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir, which will be led by Tomasz Tokarczyk, Henryk Mikołaj Górecki’s made, performed place – Beatus VirWojciech Kilar – Victoria and excerpts from the opera about John Paul II – Totus Tuus by Paweł Sydora. Stanislav Kuflyuk (baritone), Adrian Domarecki (tenor), Sylwia Ziółkowska (soprano), Dawid Roy (baritone), Grzegorz Królak (bass), mezzo-soprano players – Agnieszka Karpińska and Klaudyna Nitkiewicz and Karol Bonawentura Mieliński (baritone) will perform as soloists.
The last concert of the 54th Organ Music Days will be on Sunday, December 5 this year. at. 6.00 p.m. at the Sanctuary of Saint John Paul II the Great. Performed by organist Bogdan Narloch and Roman Gryń playing the trumpet, we will hear compositions by Clarke, Stanley, Bach, Chopin, Wawiłow, Czerniewicz, Dubois and Bédard.
Admission free to all concerts outside the seat of the 54th Organ Music Days of the Krakow Philharmonic.
