Lisbon, Leiria and Coimbra under yellow warning due to maritime weather – Climate
The districts of Lisbon, Leiria and Coimbra are this Friday under yellow warning due to the forecast of maritime forecast, forecasting waves with four meters, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).
According to IPMA, the yellow strong maritime warning will be in effect until 18:00 today.
The yellow warning is issued by IPMA whenever a weather situation represents a risk for certain activities.
IPMA forecasts for today on the continent a light cloudy or clear sky and periods of light rain in the far north from the afternoon and on the north coast of Cabo da Roca at the end of the day, which happens to be in the form of snow above 1,400 meters of altitude.
The forecast also points to ice or frost formation, especially in the north and centre, morning fog or fog in some valleys and lowlands, a small drop in the minimum temperature in the central and southern regions and a small rise in the maximum in the central region.
A light to moderate wind is also forecast from the northern quadrant, blowing moderate to strong in the western coastal strip and in the highlands, sometimes with gusts up to 60 kilometers per hour and strong maritime in the western coast.
The minimum temperatures will vary between -1 degrees Celsius (in Guarda) and 7 (in Lisbon) and the maximum between 6 (in Guarda) and 16 (in Faro).
