Thessaloniki: Former AUTh executive of AUTh convicted of mismanagement of canteens
The accused sat here for the crime of infidelity associated with the mismanagement of the canteens of AUTh.
Six years in prison imposed it Three-member Criminal Court of Appeal of Thessaloniki in Former CEO of the Property Assessment and Management Company (EADP) of AUTh judging the guilty for infidelity.
The accused sat here for the above offense related to the mismanagement of the canteens of the university institution which were managed and confessed by the EADP. According to the indictment, the former managing director did not collect common expenses amounting to 450,000 euros from the canteen tenants in the period 2005-2012.
An investigation into the case had been ordered by the Thessaloniki Prosecutor’s Office conducted by the SDOE. As part of the same investigation, a case was filed for unpaid rents, amounting to hundreds of thousands of euros, again with the canteen tenants in debt. With regard to rents, the accused has already been sentenced to several years in prison, while the trial is being held in the second instance.
In his apology, he denied the accusation, noting that he was an ordinary employee and that the responsibility lies with the company’s board of directors.
His superiors did not convince him and the court sentenced him to six years in prison, while he appealed, which was decided to have a suspensive effect and he was released.
