Policy to beat drugs “was worth it”
Dfter, last week, Portugal has been in the news abroad for having approved a law that prevents employers from contacting workers for working hours, our country is once again in the news for political choices, this time with regard to the war against drugs.
20 years ago, in 2001, the Portuguese drug policy that decriminalized consumption legally entered into force. We were the first country in the world to choose this path and, according to France 24, the bet was won.
A team of journalists from the French television channel traveled to the Portuguese capital to portray how these consumers are monitored.
According to the newspaper, winning the war on drugs with a political gamble “was worth it”.
