– I was in fact fired – NRK Norway – Overview of news from different parts of the country
– I was in fact deposed as President of the Storting when the Storting’s director concluded that I had violated the regulations regarding commuter housing in the period 2014-2017 and the public prosecutor followed up by ordering an investigation, Hansen wrote in a text message to NRK.
NRK has asked several questions, including whether she regrets that she withdrew. She does not answer the questions directly, but expresses herself as follows:
– I felt compelled, of course, to apologize for this. I mean myself I have followed the regulations to the letter.
Hansen has sought assistance from the prominent lawyer John Christian Elden.
– I have had to seek legal assistance to cleanse myself. I refer to my statement to the Storting. Beyond this, I have no comments, says the longtime Labor representative.
Selects successor
Masud Gharahkhani (Labor Party) is nominated as the new Speaker of the Storting, NRK experiences.
At 9 o’clock, the Labor Party gathers for a group meeting in the Storting to elect the party’s new candidate for the position of Storting president.
The Labor Party’s plan is to announce the news before the Storting convenes its meeting at 10 am.
Storting President Eva Kristin Hansen announced last week that she was resigning. In addition to Hansen, the Labor Party is represented by the fourth vice president Sverre Myrli in the current presidency. If the Labor Party nominates a man as the new Speaker of the Storting, then Myrli must also be replaced. This is because the Labor Party wants a man and a woman into the presidency.
The Storting will probably not go to the polls for a new Storting president until Thursday. Wednesday begins with Question Time in the Storting.
