Foden takes home Sweden’s official supporter club’s award
Phil Foden has been named player of the season 2020/21 by the Swedish branch of Manchester City’s official supporter club.
The 21-year-old is the latest recipient of the Blue Horse Prize, which has been awarded annually for the past 11 seasons.
The award is a nod to Sweden’s national symbol for the horse, which is usually painted red, but the artist Jonny Gudmunds has carved a special sky blue version for each winner.
The foot established itself as one of Pep Guardiola’s midfield pins during a historic season for the club.
In addition to helping City to a Premier League and Carabao Cup double as well as a first Champions League final, Foden’s achievements were noted with several individual awards.
On the domestic front, the midfielder took both the Premier League and PFA Young Player of the Year awards after nine goals and five assists in 28 games.
