Festivities – Christmas 2021 – Illuminations – city center and districts of Toulouse – Illuminations launch the magic of Christmas in Toulouse
Harmonious and eco-responsible illuminations
The streets of Toulouse are dressed in a thousand lights and decorations with this year in the spotlight the colors of gold, red and fir. Warm, festive, traditional tones that combine modernity and elegance in a warm and family atmosphere.
For a more harmonious result and in order to create an effect of natural extension, the decorations and trees of the city center and those of the heart of the neighborhood have been chosen in the same aesthetic.
Lastly, the Town Hall made greater demands on the choice of decorations made from eco-responsible and recyclable materials.
Discovery walk in 12 steps to enjoy the illuminations
The night walk in town to enjoy the enchantment of the illuminations is a classic of the end of the year celebrations. To make sure you don’t miss a thing, here is a 12-step route that will give you the chance to see the most beautiful lights in the city!
The ride begins Esquirol square : upon exiting the metro, the gaze is immediately captured by the luminous vault studded with star beads which weaves a graceful sky on either side of the square.
At the intersection with the Musée des Augustins, a detour to the Carmelites is essential to admire a luminous composition inspired by the Perseids which makes it rain shooting stars on the covered market.
Return via rue du Languedoc to borrow Alsace-Lorraine street which diffuses its 800 m of white luminous ceiling enriched – novelty this year – with fir trees (made of recyclable polyethylene) which gives the most beautiful aspect to this artery day and night.
At the crossroads of Square de Gaulle, take the direction of Wilson Square to rediscover the scenography of the Goudouli fountain (opposite), renewed with animated arches – entirely recyclable – and fir trees decorated in red and gold implanted in the basin.
At the François Mitterand esplanade, turn left towards the Victor Hugo district. You will be surprised by the diamonds of light that adorn the market. Elegant, these decorations are also a little treasure of technology! Made in Bioprint, a material made from sugar cane, and produced in 3D printing, all of their components are 100% recyclable.
Take the boulevards to head towards the Jean-Jaurès alleys and their ramblas-gardens. Like last year, a giant fir tree grew there! A majestic set 20m high, decorated with 1.6 km of garlands and whose trunk and branches are made up of 400 small fir trees, grown in an eco-responsible way in the Morvan.
For the return trip, start looking for the 6 giant trees installed in the city center. This quest will lead you on the places of the Trinity, Joan of Arc, Saint-Georges, Dupuy and on the square of Saint-Sernin where 5m high pine trees are enthroned. Made of polyethylene, they perfectly reproduce natural trees and are almost 90% recyclable. Returning to your starting point in Esquirol, take the rue de Metz which is decorated this year and pass by Saint-Etienne square which hosts the largest of these 6 trees with a 10m high copy!
