COVID infections continue to decline, PCR test positivity 46%
STA, 23 November 2021 – On Monday, Slovenia recorded 3,394 new cases of coronavirus, as infections are subsiding from week to week for the fourth day in a row. However, Covid-19 claimed another 23 lives and ICU cases continue to rise, according to data released by the government.
This morning, 1,154 patients were hospitalized with Covid-19, which is eight less than yesterday. However, the number of people treated in intensive care increased by ten to 285.
The latter figure is just below the current ICU Covid capacity of 288 beds, but capacity is expected to increase.
As the daily number of newly confirmed infections decreased by 10% compared to the same day a week ago, the current 7-day average fell further to 3,090, which is more than 50 less than the day before.
The cumulative 14-day incidence still increased slightly, by two to 2,125, and the estimated number of active cases increased by about 50 to nearly 44,800, according to the National Institutes of Public Health.
The positivity rate of the PCR test remains high at 46%.
Vaccination is slow, with 1,139,108 people or 54% of the population fully vaccinated. This means 64% of adults or 75% over the age of 50.
According to the government, 242,219 people received booster vaccinations.
