business
After the first calls for help from the Salzburg gastronomy and hotel industry, the bakers are now speaking: They had already received no help in the previous lockdowns due to closed hotels and inns.
At the beginning of the fourth lockdown, the patience of the Salzburg bakers is now at the end: Although the USA and when & they never close as part of the grocery trade, important bulk buyers have been lost without replacement due to the lockdown of the hotel and catering trade, criticized baker’s guild master Karl Heinz Thurnhofer: ” If it happens again this year that we can’t believe the gastronomy for months, then that hurts. In the mountains in particular, 40 to 50 percent of sales are lost. ”The guild master therefore demands that Salzburg’s bakers get at least part of their sales replaced by Covid aid.
Butchers and confectioners also affected
Short-time work only helps bakers to a limited extent, as many employees are currently looking for other jobs, emphasizes Thurnhofer. The President of the Salzburg Chamber of Commerce, Peter Buchmüller, supports the demands and adds that in addition to bakers and confectioners, butchers and numerous other suppliers to the hotel and catering industry are also affected.
The Salzburg claims have therefore already been deposited with the President of the Federal Economic Chamber, Harald Mahrer, who is negotiating with the Ministry of Finance, says Buchmüller.
