Director John Clinton Eisner in Portugal
The Guarda International Dramaturgy Center, directed by Marcos Barbosa, organizes this week, between Tuesday and Friday, and then between December 9th and 14th, three initiatives that bring together national and foreign translators, writers and officials. John Clinton Eisner.
The director of the International Center for Dramaturgy (CID), Marcos Barbosa, told Lusa this Monday that the activities taking place this month and in December include “a set of high-quality sources” and close the program “in a big way” of the CID in 2021.
The CID, which is installed in the Municipal Theater of Guarda (TMG), promotes, between Tuesday and Friday, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, a School of Translators / Translation Seminar for Theater, which is held in collaboration with the Oslo Dramaturgy Center (Norway), with the guest Demian Vitanza (Norwegian writer and playwright), who will have the academic Filomena Louro as a collaborator.
Manuel Neto, Sebastião Braga, Elena Angheluta, Melissa Dias, Viviane Fontoura and Susana Braga are participating in the initiative, which will allow the translation of texts and reflect the theme of translation.
Also between Tuesday and Thursday, at TMG, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm, a School for Writers/Laboratory of Dramaturgy takes place with the director John Clinton Eisner (USA, artistic director of Peacedale Productions) and with the participants Rajiv Joseph (USA), Jacinto Lucas Pires, José Gardeazabal, Sandro W. Junqueira and Joana Bértholo, according to the organization.
Critics School in December
In December, between the 9th and 14th, the CID organizes a Critics School / Theater Criticism Seminar, under the guidance of Francesca Rainer and Rui Pina Coelho, according to the CID director.
The initiative, carried out in partnership with the Portuguese Association of Critics for Theater (APCT), local companies and contains a broad program that includes a presentation of shows at TMG and also in the village of Vela.
According to the program, generate shows of the cultural structure Mala Voadora “Teleculinária” (December 13, 17:00), “Reading Cornucopia” (7:00 pm), “Is the American dream achieved at the expense of the American black” ( 21 :00) and “Show of the Future (on the 14th, at 17:00) and” Infausto” (21:00).
The play “Coveiros” will also be premiered by Escola do Largo (December 10, at the Salão da Casa do Povo da Vela) and there will be performances and rehearsals by local companies from Guarda Aquilo Teatro, Calafrio Theater and Peobardos e Gambozinos ( December 11).
The municipality of Guarda created the CID in March, a project that has seven partner countries and will accept national and international writers, directors, actors, translators, academics, artists and qualified professionals.
