Real estate market – this is how much a city apartment costs on average
As is well known, the location is the most important property of a property. And central locations are good locations; buyers rarely seek seclusion. No wonder, too, that the prices in the centers are the highest in Switzerland – only in the most exclusive holiday resorts do real estate cost that much.
The most expensive Swiss city is Geneva: In the western Swiss metropolis, a single-family house costs an average of three million francs and an apartment a good two million francs. Properties in Zurich or Basel are not much cheaper, and even in Bern, the cheapest top 5 city walls, many residents cannot afford their own four given the six-figure prices.
A few years ago, the centers were much cheaper; prices in Zurich have risen by 50 percent since 2010 – they have risen 6.5 percent since the summer alone. According to UBS, the largest Swiss city is currently at risk of a price bubble.
